Anna Morandi was born in Bologna in 1716. She devoted her life to the plastic and figurative arts from a young age and worked in the studio attended by Giovanni Manzolini, whom she married in 1740. When her husband broke away from Ercole Lelli, the couple began to work for themselves and soon won deserved fame within the contemporary artistic and scientific world. In 1760, when her husband had been dead for five years, the Bologna City Council appointed her as modeller to the Bologna University Anatomy Department. Anna Morandi died in Bologna in 1776.
